Swimmers at a time trial one of the most common causes for under-performing is that you have become cold, this could be due to standing around in damp clothing after a swim.   To warm-up your muscles before you swim, perform some warm-up exercises. Once you have swam your event keep warm by drying, changing and putting on warm clothing on top of your swimwear.
